Googling !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! yields a link for the 2017 GT500, the “Cobra of Performance Cars,” though it redirects to the regular Mustang page. Apparently, the page’s code also references a 5.8L V8, i.e. the Trinity motor.
Reminds me of that one time Ford had a reference to an “Explorer SHO” that turned out to be the Explorer Sport. Although, there was also that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for an automatic/DCT Fiesta ST that never panned out...

Ford almost put that abomination of a transmission into the FiST? Glad we dodged that bullet.

I’m still hoping it’s an Ecoboost V6.

A couple of years ago, they had MPG figures for a DCT version of the Fiesta ST listed on the official page. They removed them at some point.

I will say that I am completely surprised that we haven’t seen a turbo 6 mustang. Ford seems to love that engine and I really thought the GT350 was going have it when it was first rumored (350, 3.5 V6) but so far nothing.

Holy fuck if the 5.8 is back.......I can only imagine what they have cooked up for that monster.

Buddy of mine who works for a Ford supplier says the engineers he’s talked to say the Hellcat is their target so take that as you will.

I am insanely happy that they did a flat-plane V8 instead of the EcoBoost. That’s exciting. Yet another turbo V6 is not.

Oh I agree! It was out of left field and made it way cooler than anticipated! I honestly hope they put the 3.5EB in something like a Lincoln Mustang. That way, it doesn’t have to worry about “Itz not a V8! Fail stupid ford”
I’d be interested in that for sure

If i get my way, and a bigger paycheck and time to rallycross, im putting an EB2.7 in a fox body...and the radiator in the back seat.

I would like to postulate to Ford about the merit of a destroked flat plane 8 to the 289 size then roll out a gt350 revving to 9.5k....

Whoops, it was actually a curb weight for a DCT FiST that was listed, not FE numbers. Also, it wasn’t necessarily a DCT gearbox - it might’ve just been a conventional automatic.

That’s not too surprising/ it also wouldn’t be too surprising if they easily surpassed their mark.

They should get VW or Porsche to help them make a good DCT. That would be fun. The current one, though.... That would not be fun.

I said this yesterday but I geuss I’ll say it again.
This has actually been up since the 2015 Mustang came out. Every year it has said 2015, 16, and now 17 GT500. It means nothing. It shows the exact same specs and words about it as the 14 as well. You can do this with the Boss 302 and that is for sure not coming back anytime soon. This all has to do with something weird on Ford’s site apparently.
That’s not to say a GT500 isn’t coming, but this isn’t any confirmation of anything unfortunately. There’s a shot we could be seeing it sometime next year but probably more likely as an 18 or 19. Ford Performance has been a little bit busy with the Focus RS, Raptor, GT among other projects.

Read my other post, but long story short nothing about the search result is real. The 5.8 line was disassembled and thrown away a long time ago to make room for the 5.2L. Unless Ford Performance is making an entirely new 5.8 block for the GT500 they aren’t bringing the old one back. Something based on the Coyote block has more potential anyway.

I see, I suspected that might be the case.

Ya, this new has came up several times before and all the sudden started spreading again. Little bit frustrating but not a whole lot anyone can do. We will only really know when the real thing is unveiled.

Rather than the 3.5, it would be way more interesting to see what they can do with the 3.0 twin turbo that’s in the new MKZ and continental. 400hp, 400lb-ft to the rear wheels would be interesting.

Either one would work really. A Lincoln Mustang really seems like a no brainer, it would at least help recoup costs on the chassis.
